Buon Viaggio: A Visitor's Tour of Italy

Clinton Township (MI), 38807 Harper
March 14 th, 2014 | April 11 th, 2014

The Loft Fine Art gallery, under the auspices of Waye State University and the Consulate of Italy in Detroit, presents an exhibition of Italian landscapes and cityscapes entitled “Buon Viaggio: A Visitor’s Tour of Italy” from March 14th until April 11, 2014.
The exhibit “Buon Viaggio” will open on March 14th from 6:00 until 9:00 pm with a silent auction and a raffle, from which a portion of the proceeds will go towards a scholarship fund for the Wayne State University Italian department’s “Wayne in Abruzzo” program.
The “Buon Viaggio” exhibit is inspired by the discovery of the Italian landscape through the travel and exploration of foreign tourists of the 18th and 19th centuries who traveled through Italy to admire Italian art and architecture. The works of art are grouped by geographical location and simulate a voyage through Italy within the gallery space. Venice, the Ligurian coast, Tuscany and Lake Como are among the locations most represented.
